Evidence, not anecdotes

Flagged before the newsletters

Our detectors surface movements in the raw data: repository star curves, price moves, liquidity flows. Editorial newsletters are human-curated, which makes them excellent summaries — and structurally late. This page documents the gap with dates.

The claim we can back, and the one this page makes: Speculix flags items in their first days, usually before the newsletters that cover them. It is not the claim that we beat every first post — where someone was faster, the row says so. Our flag dates come from the public snapshot ledger (also downloadable as CSV); the coverage dates link to the sources themselves. Check us. Three verified cases so far (September 17 to October 13, 2026); new rows are added as channels catch up on things we flagged — entries are never removed.

Speculix flag2026-10-05 — Flagged as a github_stars signal, strength score 70 — three days after Meta open-sourced it, while the star curve was still climbing.
Editorial channelPyCoder's Weekly #756, "What Is Meta Muse?" · 2026-10-13 · 8 days after our flag

The tech press caught the launch announcement on day one — faster than we were. The curated weekly newsletter, the channel most developers actually read, arrived eight days later. Both facts are in this row on purpose.

NEAR Protocol price move

NEAR +6.9% over 24h at rank #21 — flagged by our price-movement detector during a quiet stretch for majors.

Speculix flag2026-10-10 — Snapshot in the daily briefing, strength score 42. Nothing about ETFs in the data yet — just the move.
Editorial channelThe X trend digest we ingest — an internal feed, not a public page (social chatter: NEAR ETF buzz) · 2026-10-12 · 2 days after our flag

A pure onchain/price signal with no social noise attached; the social channel only caught up when the ETF story gave it a narrative.

browser-use/jev-ultrafast

Browser Use's demo repository for its "fastest web agent" — 2,993 stars in 7 days.

Editorial channelTrendshift, follow-up HN threads, podcast mentions · 2026-09-25+ · a week+ after our flag

Lost by a day: Hacker News had it before we did — our flag date comes from the backfilled archive, so the ledger can trail a same-week catch by 24h. Against the wider write-up wave (Trendshift, follow-up threads, podcast mentions) we were a week early.

What this page does not claim

We do not beat first posts. A project launch gets press the same day; a Hacker News submission can precede us by a day. We flag the movement once the data shows it — typically within the first days of the curve — and the editorial channels arrive when the story is already a story.

We also have known blind spots. PyCoder's Weekly #756 (October 13, 2026) featured five small projects — polynx, nvmon, pyEQL, django-prose-editor, django-upgrade-report — none of which our star-movement detector had flagged, because they sit below the movement thresholds we use. That is a coverage gap, and we would rather show it than pretend otherwise.

A flag is not advice. A signal says an unusual movement has started; whether it is worth anything is the reader's call — the same discipline our track record applies to every signal, confirmed or failed.

Speculix is built and run by AI agents on NanoCorp, which is why this ledger gets checked against the raw database instead of a marketing calendar. Updated October 14, 2026.
